Cost

Education Expanse:

The institutes cost mainly depends upon the status and the courses they offer:

  • Application Fees of Institutions- $100
  • Visa Fees Approx CAD 150 + CAD 85 for Biometric
  • Vocational Education and Training (Certificates I to IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) – $12,000 to $14,000
  • Undergraduate Bachelor Degree– $15,000 to $30,000
  • Postgraduate Masters Degree– $18,000 to $35,000

So tuition fees are different for different courses chosen by the student.

Cost of living:

An international student spends an average of $600-800 per month towards living expenses.

  • The student has to pay his/her first semester fees compulsorily (IN SDS- Full 1 year fees payment required) to the school or university he/she is willing to take admission in when the visa process is going on. For instance, if the annual fee is $14,000 then the student will have to pay the half amount of the annual fees i.e. $7,000 for the first semester which has the duration of 6 months.
  • During the starting process of visa, the student is asked to deposit $10,000 in the form of G.I.C in Canada Scotia Bank to prove that he/she has an expense for them to maintain for a year. The Canadian Immigration for International Students has set living expenses which are $840 per month, so the annual expense is set for $10,000.

Funds Requirements:

To apply for a study permit under the SDS in India, you must purchase a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (“GIC”) in the amount of $10,000 Canadian Dollars (“CAD”). Students applying for a study permit in Non SDS may also purchase a GIC to act as proof of funds to cover their living expenses for the first year of their stay in Canada. You can purchase this GIC from Nova Scotia Bank or ICICI Bank Canada.

A GIC is a secure investment account ( like a Fixed Deposit in India) that guarantees the full amount of your original investment and the interest on your money over a pre-determined, fixed time frame. You will receive a portion of your investment plus interest every month for a 12 month period. You can use these funds to help pay for living expenses while you’re studying in Canada. You will have received your full investment of $10,000 CAD at the end of 12 months.
