COST OF STUDY & SCHOLARSHIPS

Educations Costs

Vocational Education and Training (Certificates I to IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) – $12,000 to $14,000
Undergraduate Bachelor Degree– $15,000 to $30,000
Postgraduate Masters Degree– $18,000 to $25,000

Cost of Living

An international student spends an average of $600-800 per month towards living expenses.

The student has to pay his/her first semester fees compulsorily to the school or university he/she is willing to take admission in when the visa process is going on. For instance, if the annual fee is $14,000 then the student will have to pay the half amount of the annual fees i.e. $7,000 for the first semester which has the duration of 6 months.

During the starting process of visa, the student is asked to deposit $10,000 in the form of G.I.C in Canada Scotia Bank to prove that he/she has an expense for them to maintain for a year. The Canadian Immigration for International Students has set living expenses which are $840 per month, so the annual expense is set for $10,000.

Funding your Studies (G.I.C.)

To apply for a study permit under the SPP in India, you must purchase a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (“GIC”) in the amount of $10,000 Canadian Dollars (“CAD”). Students applying for a study permit outside of the SPP (e.g., for university study) may also purchase a GIC to act as proof of funds to cover their living expenses for the first year of their stay in Canada. You can purchase this GIC from Nova Scotia Bank or ICICI Bank Canada.

A GIC is a secure investment account ( like a Fixed Deposit in India) that guarantees the full amount of your original investment and the interest on your money over a pre-determined, fixed time frame. You will receive a portion of your investment plus interest every month for a 12 month period. You can use these funds to help pay for living expenses while you’re studying in Canada. You will have received your full investment of $10,000 CAD at the end of 12 months.
