An average tuition fee for:

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree – 1,600 EUR per year
• Ph.D. Degrees – 100-200 EUR per year
• Students opting to study medicines – 16,000 EUR per year

Private universities charge a higher tuition fee which ranges from 1,500 EUR to 16,000 EUR per year.

Around 11% students in Switzerland prefer to take a walk, 10% ride a bicycle and 10% prefer to use the public transport to commute.

• Monthly pass for the public transportation: 40-50 EUR

Swiss cities like Zurich, Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne and Neuchatel, a single public transport ticket is valid for trains, tramways, buses, and ships.

To travel from one city to another, the Swiss travel pass is an affordable option. A single may cost you 340EUR for 15 days.

Extra Costs for students

• Monthly Health Insurance: 300-330 EUR/month
• Books and supplies: 90 EUR/month
• Carry a student ID card to reduce the cost of museum tickets to 6-7 EUR.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Admission and Visa Process

The dream of studying in Switzerland doesn’t reach its destination with getting selected for the university. Along with selection, a student needs to have Visa to move and reside from one country to another. Switzerland is nothing different. The Visa process is a brainstorming task and it takes a lot of time to complete. A student should apply for the Visa just after getting the confirmation letter from the university, to join the course on time.

There are two types of Visas, differentiated on the basis of the duration of the course.
For the three months diploma or summer training courses, you need a short-term Schengen C Visa , while for the long term courses you have to apply for the national D Visa.

If you want to exceed the duration of your stay more than 90 days, you need a student residence permit from the cantonal migration offices after 14 days of arrival.
