Course fees

Calculate the first 12 months of your course fees or include the total cost of your course if it is for a duration of 12 months or less. Deduct any prepaid costs and provide evidence of these payments (this should be on your Confirmation of Enrolment or provide receipts).

Travel costs

If applying outside Australia, include AUD2,000 per person

Schooling costs

Where school aged children are included in your student visa application, schooling costs of AUD8,296 per year for each child will need to be added to the amount of funds that is required.

Fund calculation example

  • Mr. Paras is a single student going for a Master in Business with fees of A$ 28,000. He needs to show funds: A$28,000 + A$21,041 + A$2,000
  • Mr. Dheeraj is a married student going for Master in IT with fees of A$30,000. He needs to show funds: A$30,000 + A$21,041 + A$7362 + A$2,000 + A$2,000

Note: Please deduct any prepaid tuition fees to get the actual amount of Fund required for the Australian Student Visa.

Acceptable Evidence to fulfill financial requirements

  • Money deposited with a financial institution (Bank Balance, Fixed Deposits, etc)
  • Loan with a financial institution
  • If you have money in Post Office, PF/PPF, Co-Operative Bank, etc then transfer the funds to a valid bank and keep proof of source of funds
  • Government Loans
  • Scholarship or financial support

Genuine Access to Funds

You and your accompanying family members must be able to access the funds while you are in Australia. When considering whether the funds will be genuinely available, DIBP will take into account:

  • The nature of relationship between you and the person who is providing the funds
  • Your income, assets and employment or those of the person providing the funds
  • Your previous visa history and that of the person providing the funds
